Our Story
My name is Alyssa Kirk. I am a mother to four children, one girl and three boys. My oldest is nine, and my youngest is three months. My boyfriend and I live in Newport Pa and have four dogs, three cats, two bunnies, and four goldfish (thanks, Juniata County Fair ;). I homeschool my oldest two and dodge toys and baby vomit in between. My days are pretty hectic if you didn't guess that already, but generally, I love it.
I also love reading books and anything historical, cue "The Book Basement".
In 2023, I was married to my ex-husband (older two's dad), and had a section of the basement that was a great space for books. I wanted to be able to use that space to share my love of books with others, so that's where the idea for the store came from.
Since then, there have been many life changes...divorce, new relationships, and new little sticky fingers, but the one thing that has been there through it all is the books. I am limited to online sales for the time being, but more than willing to let you check out my inventory in person, as I will have a room for that in our home.
General Information
Book Inventory
Our inventory is well over a thousand books with different genres. I'm constantly looking for good deals on books to provide you with even better deals. As an avid reader myself, I know the cost of brand new books can sometimes exceed what we are willing or able to pay. I can take requests for books if you are looking for a certain author or book. I'll do my best to find it at a price cheaper than brand new.
Requesting Specific Books
As mentioned, if you are looking for a certain book, I will do my best to find it. This is a service I offer at no extra price. I DO NOT provide a time frame for finding the book. I do require your contact information and ask that I be able to contact you when I find your request to confirm that you want it at the price I can offer it.
Donations/Buying Books
I do take donations and buy books from independent individuals as a way to grow my inventory. Upon donating you will be required to fill out a form with the book/s information.
If you would like to sell your books it is a similar process. If I decide to buy, you will be required to fill out a similar form. In exchange for money you can also choose to do receive store credit. If this is the route you choose, a seperate form can be completed.
